Mark's 50th birthday mission: 2,500km Running Challenge to raise $50,000

Local runner Mark Carpenter will tackle an extraordinary endurance challenge starting 6 September, running 50 kilometres every day for 50 consecutive days to raise $50,000 for Mirabel children.
Mark, who turns 50 this year, has set himself the incredible task of covering 2,500 kilometres. The ambitious challenge will see him averaging more than a marathon and a half every single day for nearly two months.
“I know how childhood trauma can shape a life — and how the right support, love, and resilience can help change its course. Running has helped me heal, and now I want to use it to help others.” Mark says.
His route will include participating in the Surf Coast Century on 13 September, where he'll complete one of his 50-kilometre daily targets as part of what he describes as "one of the most incredible, welcoming, and community-driven running events" he's experienced.
Mark is encouraging others to get involved in whatever way they can, whether through donations or sharing his story. He'll be documenting the journey through his Instagram account @markcarpenterau and campaign website 50k50days.com. He's also established a Strava club for supporters who want to log their own kilometres in solidarity.
In addition to the financial support, Mark’s extraordinary commitment sends a powerful message that these children are seen, valued, and supported by their community. His dedication is a remarkable example of compassion and community solidarity.
